Memories!!!
How wonderful it is to remember your childhood's best dish just by
smelling an herb or a spice!!!
How often do we think of a family meal we had when we were
kids ?? it's a great go back in time experience .. the power of taste or aroma
hidden in your memory box...
Everytime I cook garbenzo beans, I have to have some with cumin olive oil
and salt..best snack that my grandma gave me between meals when I wanted something to eat..
I learned a lot from my grandma and my mom..both were great cooks and wonderful teachers!:

Food is great
I grew up in Algeria North Africa , food is very important in our culture not only we like to cook , we like to eat too.... families there , cook three meals a day from scratch . All the pastas are home made usually by the mother or the grandma . Girls have to learn how to present a table and cook as well....to be continued.....

Salmon salad
Ingredients :serves 4
-1lb fresh wild poached salmon or(4cans of no sodium added wild Alaskan salmon
-2tbs of sliced Spanish green olives(sliced by hand)
-1red onion
-1tbs of rinsed capers
-Half cup of Italian parsley
-1 fresh jalapeno
-Juice of 1 fresh lemon
-Fresh black pepper
Chop all the ingredients on a board..transfer to a nice clear glass bowl, add the lemon juice and black pepper..et voila!!!
-Serve it with toasted sliced fresh bread.
PS:I like it without oil but if you like..you can add it..

thought of the day
Cooking for yourself is not as satisfying as cooking for loved ones...I love the smell of herbs,the feel of fruits and vegetables , i think about creating a dish everyday ..putting ingredients together is very exiting . Some people think that cooking is very difficult!!! I say not at all , you just have to put an apron on ., get your favorite meat , spices , veggies and start imagining the dish..you will be surprised how happy you are when you tell yourself ....I did try... I hope you will follow me and we can talk and share the mimi's fun of cooking.:)

mimi's cooking
I grew up in Algeria North Africa , we like to cook and also we like to eat...we celebrate everyday by cooking three meals . As a woman , I had to learn how to prepare a meal for a family of six, it didn't take long to understand that following a recipe was not an option .My mother would say ..(look what's in the fridge and make something the family will enjoy)..I think that was the best cooking lessons I had . Cooking is a way of meditation to me , when I am in the kitchen, my worries go away...my heart always warm with good memories . I never say no to hosting a party and most of it because it makes me happy .
